AI-Powered Headphones Create a “Sound Bubble” Around Users
AI-Powered Headphones Enclose Users in a "Sound Bubble"
As a solution, researchers from the University of Washington have developed a remarkable pair of headphones with artificial intelligence that ensures the user is encompassed in a ‘sound bubble’. It helps in expelling the disturbing background sounds ensuring a better hearing experience for the users.
The calibrated headsets are equipped with six microphones that are connected to powerful artificial intelligence. This sophisticated system can augment the sounds that are nearer to the user and suppress other sounds that are far (within the range of two meters).
Thus, these headsets make it possible for people to follow through on any discussions even in noisy places, for example, busy eateries or festive events. The enhancement allows users to focus on nearby sounds while ‘cutting out’ background noise, allowing better interactions without interference.
The team is now researching how to make this technology come in even smaller sizes. One of the uses of this can be adding this noise suppressing effect in hearing aids which will be useful for people with hearing problems. This improvement would enable them to carry on conversations in noisy environments without any issues which would be a great improvement on their life standards.
