Apple is developing a Face ID-enabled doorbell camera.

Unlocking your door in the same manner as your iPhone screen is part of the company's smart home push.

The latest news is that Apple is currently working on a smart doorbell camera that will be incorporated with a Face ID feature. This is something that will enable the easy and secure opening of doors by the users. This product is expected to be released by late 2025.

This door camera, like iPhones, will be made compatible with many third-party HomeKit smart locks. Apple may work with a smart lock company and come up with a complete security system that will teach users how to easily and effectively manage access to their homes.

The camera will be powered by Apple’s very own “Proxima” chip, which brings together Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities. This chip is now expected to go into what will be the new HomePod Mini and Apple TV devices to be rolled out in the coming year.

The move is part of Apple’s broader attempt at developing a smart home with an extension of new releases in this market. The initiative will focus on the intelligence of Apple to include, among other things, another smart home camera, a possible Apple TV, and a line of new smart displays.

Thus, it is envisioned that the smart doorbell camera can co-exist with other existing third-party HomeKit smart locks. The in-house “Proxima” chip by Apple will actually be the power booster of the device to provide better connectivity and overall features.
