‘Apple Vision’ headset to be cheaper, about $2000; replace EyeSight

Cheaper ‘Apple Vision’ headset to cost around $2000; drop EyeSight

Apple is getting ready to launch its more affordable version of Vision, which the company will sell for around $2,000. It may launch as early as next year. This more budget-oriented device arrives as Apple shifts attention to developing a successor to the current Apple Vision Pro, now at $3,499, which remains out of reach for many would-be customers.

The headset’s expected low cost means it will have a weaker processor and cheaper materials. It will have an A-series chipset, reportedly the A18 Pro, that would provide similar performance to an M1 chip. As for the materials used in constructing this new headset, it is expected to have more plastic components than the more premium aluminum and glass seen in the Vision Pro.

Besides these specifications and material changes, the new headset is also expected to drop its EyeSight feature. This is a feature using lenticular displays, which enables users to see through a device into the surroundings. This will be omitted in the cheaper model.

Such a strategy, though, would suggest that the lower-cost Vision Headset is positioned for greater market success, and it is considered likely to sell at least double the volume versus the higher-end Pro version. Furthermore, the company is already considering future products given that the Apple Vision Pro 2 is going to arrive in 2026. It will have a more advanced chipset which will expand performance even further when compared to what currently sits at the helm.
