For iPhone users, there are specific settings within iOS 17.5 that can be modified to prevent your device from depleting its battery when it is most critical. Additionally, monitoring the Battery Health menu is crucial; it provides insights into your battery’s health percentage (with 80% or above being deemed satisfactory), the number of charge cycles your battery has undergone, and whether your battery status is classified as “normal.”

The presence of widgets compels your applications to operate continuously in the background, perpetually retrieving data to refresh the information displayed, such as sports scores or weather updates. This ongoing activity results in a significant drain on battery power.

To conserve battery life on iOS 17, the most useful approach is to remove widgets from both your lock screen and home screen. A straightforward method to achieve this is by selecting a different lock screen profile: press and hold your current lock screen, then swipe to choose a profile that does not include any widgets.

If you prefer to remove the widgets from your current lock screen, press down on the lock screen, select Customize, choose the Lock Screen option, tap on the widget area, and then click the “—” button next to each widget to delete them.

Turn off your iPhone’s keyboard vibration

Surprisingly, the keyboard on the iPhone never could vibrate as you type, an addition called “haptic feedback” that was counted to iPhones with iOS 16. According to this Apple support page about the keyboard, haptic feedback “might affect the battery life of your iPhone.” No specifics are provided as to how much battery life the keyboard part drains, but if you want to save battery, it’s best to keep this feature disabled.

Fortunately, it is not enabled by default. If you’ve enabled it yourself, go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics > Keyboard Feedback and toggle off Haptic to turn off haptic feedback for your keyboard.
