Rockstar Games has finally made it known that the age-old Grand Theft Auto game 6 is being released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in the fall of 2025. The PC community, however, may have to wait a little longer until early 2026 before it gets its hands on the title.

This follows Rockstar’s established pattern of working on console releases before bringing their titles to the PC. This has happened before with big names like Grand Theft Auto 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

GTA 6 PC Release Date: Current Information

The recent comments by Andrew Paul during Corsair’s earnings call have piqued interest in a possible delay on the PC version, as even though his comments are not an official statement from Rockstar Games, they do seem like a very well-informed forecast based on the company’s traditional rollout pattern. Rockstar still hasn’t provided any formal announcement regarding the timeline for the PC version. The lack of such statements also gives plenty of room for speculation on whether or not the release dates may change based on development progress or other unforeseen factors.

There can be several reasons for the delay of the GTA 6 PC version. The first thing that comes to mind here is optimization for and enhancement of devices on the PC platform. Console’s strategic sales plans play a very important role since, routinely, Rockstar attempts to maximize sales on consoles before getting the ball rolling for the PC. There is also mod support and further addition(s) expected; the PC gaming community finds modding essential. PC mods have significantly boosted the longevity of Grand Theft Auto which, all things being equal, can improve the total user experience of GTA 6.

Final Thoughts

There are chances, according to history, that some gamers may be beaten in immediate reaction to a delayed release of the PC version, but, in point-of-fact, it is a wait that is more in favor of a better gaming experience. Game updates on developers’ schedules become more polished when they enact significant changes. Until such time, fans and developers can only be patient and await more updates or an official statement by Rockstar Games on GTA 6.
