French court sued TikTok for toxic content that reportedly caused two suicides.

Due to damaging content that allegedly caused two suicides, TikTok was sued in France.

A group of seven families residing in France has taken action and sued the social media platform TikTok. The families accuse the app of exposing their teenage kids to harmful content, which in their opinion caused the death of two children aged fifteen years.

The families argue that the platform and its features encourage users to view content that glorifies suicide and other self-destructive behavior such as self-injury and disordered eating. This group of families has decided to come together and file their lawsuit in the Créteil judicial court, marking it as the first consolidated legal action of its kind within Europe.

The parents concerned in this matter are determined to show that the relevant actions of TikTok are legally responsible and assert that the corporation must address the risks and imperfections of its service.

Ever since the emergence of TikTok and many other social media platforms, people have expressed more concern about how such companies are able to monitor the content that their users are exposed to.

To these reservations, it has been reported in the past that the company appreciates the challenges posed to children by its platform, hence availing resources for various initiatives to protect the young audience on the app.
