Following the announcement of Gemini, Google has been systematically transitioning the previous Assistant on Android devices to the more advanced Gemini AI. This integration is progressively being incorporated into a wider array of applications and services. The most recent application to benefit from this enhancement is Google Keep, which is expected to simplify the process of list creation.
Google initially showcased the Gemini-enhanced feature in Google Keep during the unveiling of the Pixel 9 over a week ago. However, it first emerged earlier this year as part of Google’s Workspace Labs initiative. Currently, it appears to be accessible to all users.
Additionally, as reported by 9to5Google, Google is deploying a new update for Google Keep that introduces the “Help me create a list” functionality. Notably, this feature is available at no cost to all Pixel users and to those with Android devices who are subscribed to one of the Google One plans.
Understanding the ‘Help Me Create a List’ Attribute in Google Keep
This AI functionality is offered as a “Help me create a list” option within the Google Keep application when initiating a new list. A prominent button for this feature is displayed above the keyboard. Users who prefer not to utilize it can easily disable it via a toggle switch in the settings or opt to hide the button entirely.
The feature operates by selecting the button and then articulating your request to Gemini. You can indicate the type of list you wish to generate, such as a grocery list tailored to a specific recipe. Its capabilities extend beyond shopping lists, accommodating various other list types, including to-do lists and packing lists.
It is essential to clarify that this feature differs from the Gemini chatbot extension that surfaced earlier this month. That extension enables users to manage existing entries in Keep or create new ones from scratch, even outside the application. Besides Keep, the extension is also compatible with other applications such as Calendar and Reminders.
The “Help me create a list” functionality, accompanied by a toggle, is part of Google Keep version 2.24.332.02.90. As the update is being rolled out progressively, it may take several days or weeks for it to be accessible on all compatible devices. Additionally, users with non-Pixel devices will require a Google One or One Premium subscription to utilize this feature.
