Users of X can access the AI chatbot, Grok, without subscribing to X premium. Now they need not go for paid plans anymore; X has introduced a novel feature that offers 10 free prompts every two hours to interact with Grok. The Verge noted the change and shared user observations regarding the update.
A freeing trial of Grok commenced by X in scattered places such as New Zealand as featured by TechCrunch earlier last month. This has enabled a sizable population to really touch Grok rather than paying something to the company.
While it allows users to create 10 free images every two hours, the chatbot can also accept unlimited prompts. The downside, however, is that data analysis can only be limited to three images each day, after which image analysis will incur an extra cost. This nouvelle move follows the example of popular AI services-Grok by the way-now follows that by examples set by OpenAI’s ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Claude.
Previously, Grok was only available to subscribers of X Premium. The associated cost of the subscription coincides with $8 monthly or $84 annually. The current news completely changes how Grok is accessed since it would probably reach many more users who could not bring themselves to pay for a subscription.
Moreover, xAI, the owner of Grok, indicated through a filing with the SEC that it has secured $6 billion in funding. This puts total fundraising at an astounding $12 billion for xAI, demonstrating the financial support behind Grok’s development and future.
