Apple launched the latest version of its operating system, iOS 18.3. Apart from several minor changes, one major new feature is summarized AI notification.
With AI notification summaries, devices like iPhone 16, iPhone 15 Pro, and Apple silicon-powered iPads and Macs will now automatically sort and summarize notifications. Apple had made the decision to disable news and entertainment application summaries for now, since the headlines provided by those applications were found to be inaccurate.
Besides AI notification summaries, the update brings several minor changes to improve the end-user experience. One welcome addition is Visual Intelligence, which helps users get their relevant information through the image. Another exciting addition is Genmoji support, which allows users to express themselves using new personalized emoji options. There’s also a formatting option where all users can italicize their notification summaries, which adds a degree of personalization.
Much of the improved features are powered by Apple Intelligence, which is still in its beta phase. Thus, it is limited at the moment to only a few select English-speaking countries. That means other users will not be enjoying this feature immediately. Once the user makes the decision to upgrade his or her devices, the new iOS upgrade can be downloaded by following the path Settings, General, and Software Update. This update is aimed at enhancing how users interact with their devices, making notifications more usable and engaging overall.
