iOS 26 Liquid Glass & iPhone 17 Colors Leaked! Titanium Air, Aluminum Pros

As Apple’s September keynote approaches, a deluge of credible leaks paints a picture of one of the most significant iPhone redesigns in years. The iPhone 17 series, headlined by the ultra-thin “iPhone 17 Air,” reportedly embraces radical material shifts, vibrant new colors, and a display overhaul, while the imminent iOS 26 public beta promises a transformative software experience centered on a new “Liquid Glass” design language.

Design & Materials: A Hierarchy Upended

In a surprising twist, Apple appears poised to flip its material strategy. Multiple independent reports, including analysis from Jeff Pu of GF Securities, indicate the iPhone 17 Air will feature a titanium frame, a material previously reserved for Pro models. This choice, despite titanium being heavier than aluminum, is likely driven by the need for exceptional structural rigidity in the Air’s remarkably thin chassis, rumored to be just 5.5mm thick, making it Apple’s slimmest iPhone ever.

Conversely, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are expected to switch from titanium to aluminum frames. Analysts suggest this move, while potentially perceived as a downgrade, could reduce weight and cost, possibly offsetting other component upgrades or tariff pressures. Ming-Chi Kuo notes the Air might use a titanium-aluminum alloy, potentially with less titanium content than current Pro models.

The Pro models are also rumored to adopt a striking new horizontal camera bar spanning the width of the device, necessitating a lower-positioned Apple logo. The standard iPhone 17 retains a familiar dual-camera vertical layout but grows to a 6.3-inch display, matching the Pro’s size and finally ending the smaller non-Pro option. The Air features a single-lens 48MP rear camera centered within its pill-shaped bar 1913.

Color Palette & Finishes: Vibrancy Meets Sophistication

Leaked Pantone references and corroborated reports point to distinct color strategies:

iPhone 17 Pro/Pro Max: Expect sophisticated hues like Dark Blue (Mood Indigo) and a potentially eye-catching fluorescent-inspired Orange (Papaya) alongside standard Black and White. The Pro models may also boast a new scratch-resistant, anti-reflective display coating for improved durability and visibility.

Performance & Display: Power and Fluidity for All

Under the hood, the entire lineup is rumored to feature 12GB of RAM, a significant boost for the standard iPhone 17 (up from 8GB) and the Air, crucial for handling evolving AI features. All models will reportedly be powered by variants of the new A19 chip (A19 for 17/Air, A19 Pro for Pros).

A major win for consumers is the potential arrival of ProMotion (120Hz refresh rate) across all four models, enabled by LTPO OLED displays. This would eliminate a key differentiator between Pro and non-Pro iPhones, offering smoother scrolling and interactions universally. Pro models might also feature improved vapor chamber cooling to maximize A19 Pro performance.

iOS 26: Liquid Glass and Intelligence Take Center Stage

Scheduled for a public beta release next week (around July 23rd) 41213, iOS 26 represents Apple’s most significant software redesign since iOS 7. The cornerstone is “Liquid Glass,” a translucent, dynamic material that reflects and refracts its surroundings. As described by Apple VP Alan Dye, it combines “the optical qualities of glass with a fluidity only Apple can achieve,” transforming based on content and context.

This design permeates the OS from buttons and sliders to app icons and system interfaces like Control Center and the Lock Screen, where the time elegantly adapts behind wallpaper subjects 4612. Navigation is streamlined with adaptive elements; tab bars shrink while scrolling to emphasize content, and contextual menus “pop out” when needed (e.g., in the redesigned Camera app).

Alongside the visual overhaul, Apple Intelligence expands with features like Live Translation in calls/messages, Visual Intelligence for on-screen awareness, deeper ChatGPT integration, enhanced Genmoji, and productivity boosts in Wallet and Reminders. However, many advanced AI features require an iPhone 15 Pro or newer.

“The combination of the iPhone 17 Air’s radical hardware redesign and iOS 26’s Liquid Glass interface feels like Apple reasserting its design leadership,” suggests tech analyst Michael Tan. “Moving ProMotion to the entire lineup and standardizing 12GB RAM are aggressive moves that significantly raise the base experience, even as the Pro models grapple with material trade-offs.”

With the iPhone 17 event likely set for September 9th or 10th 13, Apple is shaping a narrative of bold design evolution, material pragmatism, and a software experience aiming to blend the familiar with the futuristic. The iOS 26 beta will offer the first tangible glimpse of that software future starting next week.
