CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg took a stand to criticize Apple for a complete lack of innovation and unfair rules set for app developers.
The iPhone has done a great job in connecting people globally, but according to him, Apple’s product releases for some time have failed to meet expectations. According to Zuckerberg, the company has not rolled out any innovative devices over the last few years, which he considers a huge setback.
In his speech, he mentioned that Apple is suffering with iPhone sales due to the lack of meaningful upgrades on new models. This stagnation affects interest from consumers well and the overall market. Zuckerberg leveled accusations at Apple charging developers and consumers. The app sale 30 percent commission of the company is a considerable burden. He also believes that Apple forces the consumer to buy other accessories like AirPods just to enrich the company more.
Zuckerberg believes that if Apple eased its rigid policies, it would create space for doubling the profits of the company, Meta. The most prominent battle between Zuckerberg and Apple was reaffirmed when Zuckerberg questioned the causes based on which Apple justifies its ironclad rules such as privacy or security. Rather than restricting third-party developers from rewriting the code, we need to supplement Apple’s freshly fortified security measures coupled with certain better encryption tools, according to him. This could solve many problems and help move toward a more open development environment.
Zuckerberg even had something to say about Apple’s mixed-reality headset, the Vision Pro, which hasn’t done well in sales. He also mentioned the effort that had been put into working on it, but with its disappointing sales figures, he added, “That speaks even more to my worries for the future of innovation at Apple.”
