Meta, which is the parent concern for Instagram, wishes to build a talent pool in AI to ensure that it is always at the forefront of technology companies. They recently announced a decision to axe some 4,000 employees, almost 5% of total worldwide staff.
This initiative is invoked so that performance management is being reviewed across the firm. However, during his address to the employees left with the company after general layoffs, CEO Mark Zuckerberg reassured that many of the axed jobs would be filled again by the end of 2024.
Meta maintains its internal and external human resources by providing for broader recruitment of new employees in one of the newer areas of artificial intelligence. It plans to spend around $65 billion this year on AI projects. To facilitate the process for people being interviewed, Meta is conducting the now-legendary “ML Batch Day Interviews” between February 11 and March 13.
In addition to this, Meta encourages its existing employees who are trained in serving as interviewers to join the bandwagon of hiring. The company is pushing these interviewers to conduct two interviews per week, depending on the shifting hiring targets. To coordinate such efforts, Meta also plans to increase its interviewer pool by 20% to increase the rate of candidates accepted.
This initiative to hire is in line with what Zuckerberg previously said about artificial intelligence being a central part of Meta’s growth strategy from here onwards. Investing heavily in AI and bringing in competent staff is aimed at enhancing Meta’s position in the very rapidly changing technology domain.
