Recently, Apple unveiled the speedier iPad Mini.

Apple just announced a new, faster iPad Mini

Apple has announced the release of the new iPad Mini, marking the first upgrade for the smallest tablet since 2021. Starting at $499, the Mini is equipped with an A17 Pro chip, a 30% faster CPU, a 25% faster GPU, and a twice as fast neural engine as the previous model.

It also supports the new Apple Pencil Pro and comes with 128GB of storage in the base model instead of 64GB. The Wi-Fi 6E chip and USB-C port are faster, while the colors have been updated to purple and blue.

The last-gen Mini was a significant overhaul, featuring a new design, USB-C port, and spec upgrades. This new Mini looks similar to the last one, as it is the first redesign since the original Mini in 2012. The new device can do hardware-accelerated ray tracing, which should improve the visual appeal of high-end games.

The Mini has always been an oddity in Apple’s tablet lineup, similar to the iPhone SE. While pilots love their iPad Minis, most people prefer the big screen over the small one. Apple recently updated the rest of the iPad lineup, adding the more powerful M2 chip to the Air, redesigning the Pro, and dropping the price of the base model to $349. The Mini’s appearance has made some people wonder whether Apple plans to continue making the Mini, but it seems that the company is happy keeping the Mini on a slightly different update cadence from the rest of its tablets.
