Review of the Rolls-Royce Spectre: the pinnacle of electrified luxury

Rolls-Royce Spectre review: the ultimate electric experience

The all-electric Rolls-Royce Spectre starts at $420,000. Many people fall in love with the car because of the nature of its drive-smooth, its interior so luxurious, and most importantly, its sound system. While most electric cars result in little to no noise at all, this car’s anti-acoustic design gives it a deep, resonant tone when the vehicle gains speed.

The special sound experience gives it an extra dimension that electric cars, until now, haven’t delivered.

Anyway, in the form of this Spectre—which is the first application of a battery-electric Rolls-Royce—these potent twin electric motors develop 577 horsepower along with 664 pound-feet of torque. Weighing some 6,371 pounds, heavier than a Cadillac Escalade, this car manages to sprint from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 4.4 seconds—a showcase not just of strength but also of performance capabilities.

Specifically engineered to be easy to handle, especially when pushed through tight spots like crowded parking lots, the Spectre is designed for ease of use. Yet, thanks to its available 360-degree camera system and standard automated parking feature, scrapes and scratches are easier to avoid—especially on its largest 23-inch wheels. The tech load also stacks high in the vehicle courtesy of its parent company, BMW. It is fitted with a hands-free driver assist system and a modern touchscreen infotainment system that promises convenience and connectivity.

Meanwhile, for the connectivity enthusiast, it’s fitted with inbuilt navigation and charging station access, and it’s also wired for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It doesn’t, however, offer Dolby Atmos sound.

For everything that’s lacking, though—a feature set that includes everything anyone could conceivably want—and then some—the Spectre counters with an interior detail level that borders on hyper-luxurious. Inside, one will find soft lambswool floor mats and sleek polished metal controls to enhance the feel of luxury. Tack on the $2,750 destination charge, and the total for the Spectre is $560,100. This high price may not go well within everybody’s budget, but for those who could afford such a pricey price tag, it would be well worth it to invest in.

But along with the Spectre, Rolls-Royce announced plans for an SUV in 2027 and all-electric by 2030. More future electric models from this brand will have features similar in style and performance, no doubt. Indeed, for any person thinking of investing in a luxury electric car, this sound system alone makes it worth choosing the Spectre.
