Eli Health recently released the Hormometer, an innovative and advanced hormone-testing system for home use. It makes possible the use of saliva samples and a smartphone camera to measure hormone levels accurately. The user collects saliva as a sample, which is then analyzed using the accompanying app. It assesses the sample based on color intensity and some patterns found in the saliva. After this, it provides personalized input and recommendations for different areas of health, such as stress management, sleeping quality, athletic performance, and fertility.
In Eli Health Hormometer, it provides two particular tests especially for hormones: cortisol one and progesterone test. Cortisol, as we all always knew, is the stress hormone. High levels of cortisol are essential for the proper functioning of many systems in the body. This can include everything from medical responses to perceived dangers, regulation of blood pressure to the control of blood sugar levels and metabolism, including sleep cycles. Imbalances in cortisol levels for longer periods can result in some serious health conditions such as Cushing’s syndrome, unexpected weight changes, chronic fatigue, Type 2 diabetes, changes in blood pressure, and so on. On the other hand, progesterone is an additional reproductive hormone. Its deficiency could induce an irregular menstrual cycle, problems in conceiving, and mood disruptions such as depression.
There are currently two tests that Eli Health offers through its Hormometer: cortisol and progesterone. The stress hormone, as it is popularly known, is crucial in body processes from response to perceived dangers to control of blood pressure, sugar levels, metabolism, and sleep cycles. A long-time imbalance of this hormone in the system can result in several serious health problems. This includes Cushing’s syndrome, abnormal weight fluctuations, constant fatigue, Type 2 diabetes, and abnormal blood pressures, among others. Progesterone is a hormone of reproduction that tends to be deficient when a woman’s menstrual cycle becomes irregular, when she is having difficulty achieving pregnancy, or when she suffers from mood disturbances such as depression.

Wellness is the latest buzzword in the quest for maintaining a hormonal equilibrium, especially when the hormones in mention are cortisol. But the hype over ”hormone balance” can be misleading and even dangerous for some individuals who may not have any formal medical training. Partners, however, may thin down the available statistics to those who already have recognized chronic hormone or reproductive health concerns for easier monitoring of their hormones. The device is FDA approved, where it showed 97% as well as 94% agreement during third-party evaluations with established FDA-approved laboratory testing.
Recently, Eli Health publicized their beta-opening this month for the Hormometer in the United States and Canada, with a planned roll-out of the complete product set by the end of the year. Moreover, they have shown that they will work on expanding their portfolio by developing testosterone and estradiol tests.
