In a letter obtained by The Post, Wyoming entrepreneur Reid Rasner has stirred a hornet’s nest with an offer for TikTok that would bank the short video app close to $50 billion.
🌟 Having founded several companies in Wyoming, Rasner is now head of a media firm and an investor eyeing a pincer grip control of TikTok assets, operations, and the in-demand algorithm for $47.45 billion.
He expressed his vision of moving TikTok’s operations to Wyoming, saying it would result in thousands of high-paying jobs for the tech sector while giving a boost to the energy, agriculture, and tourism industries in the state. It’s a win-win! 💼
This is not the first time TikTok has been discussed on a national level. Former President Trump once swore to “save TikTok” when he was in office and signed an executive order temporarily halting the app’s forced divestment from its Chinese parent company. National security concerns have loomed large, with experts warning that the Chinese Communist Party could access massive data on TikTok’s 170 million U.S. users. 😟
This year, billionaire Larry Ellison was highlighted as a potential buyer due to Oracle’s cloud computing partnership with TikTok. Other big names that have expressed interest include Elon Musk, billionaire Frank McCourt, and Kevin O’Leary of “Shark Tank,” who have reportedly pulled together $20 billion in commitments to purchase the TikTok brand and rebuild its algorithm right here in the U.S. 🚀
Rasner, who has launched wealth management and glass companies in Wyoming and once tangled with Sen. John Barrasso, in last year’s Republican primary, is passionate about what this could mean for his home state. His offer notes the “abundance of clean, low-cost energy resources” in Wyoming, which he believes will be important to keep TikTok running. A chance to realize great innovation and great growth in a state known for natural beauty and natural wealth! 🌄
This ambitious move by Rasner is not only about acquiring a social media platform; it is about creating jobs and revitalizing an economy. The potential effects on the local community and industry could be transformational; this is certainly a story to follow!
