With iOS 18, iPhone users can open any app without unlocking their phones

Let’s set aside Apple Intelligence for a moment; iOS 18 has a ton of non-AI innovations that will be available to iPhone customers this year. Apps may be locked so that opening them requires either your passcode or Face ID. As an alternative, you can hide an app from view on your home screen. It will be possible with iOS 18. You may change the app icons on your home screen by rearranging them or changing the color scheme. Sending a message now includes the ability to schedule when it will be sent using “Send Later,” and RCS messages are now supported.

iOS 18 has a ton of other new features, one of which lets you access any app from the Lock Screen. This is feasible as Apple will let you personalize the Lock Screen shortcuts that presently access the camera on the right and the flashlight on the left. You won’t even need to unlock your iPhone to use any app after iOS 18 is installed. I think that’s very cool.

You have two options: either roll the dice, install the iOS 18 Public Beta, hope that the features you depend on aren’t affected, and take advantage of the new features, or wait until September when the stable version of iOS 18 is released. Since the Public Beta is issued after the Developer Beta is removed and Apple has had time to fix any significant bugs, we recommend it over the former.

After installing the iOS 18 beta, choose the blue Customize button by long pressing the Lock Screen. When you select the Lock Screen option, two “-” buttons will appear, one next to the bottom left icon and one next to the lower right icon. To change an icon, press the button next to it and then hit the “+” button. To open an app from your Lock Screen, select Open App and select it. Press the Done button. And that’s the whole total of it.

Navigate to Settings > General > Software Update on your iPhone to install the iOS 18 Public Beta. You may view your invitation to update to the beta by tapping on Beta Updates, choosing iOS 18 Public Beta, and then pressing the back button in the top left corner. To install it, according to the instructions.
