Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have spelled out their plans for DOGE
With the precision and donations expected of a billionaire new position Kamikaze 2.0 – elon musk and vivek ramaswamy appointed as co-chairpersons of the President-elect D. Trump’s recently established initiative “Department of Government Efficiency”, or DOGE. This advisory is created to change the working of the federal administration.
According to the plan, both Musk and Ramaswamy will work on a pro bono basis and will seek to offer suggestions that may help in considerably reducing the scale of functioning of the federal administration. Their primary purpose is to examine federal departments, which they find not only ineffective but also behaving contrary to democracy.
In order to realize these objectives, they wish to create a small, professional group of limited government sympathizers who are interested in minimizing federal power expansion. This group will work directly with the Trump administration as well as the Office of Management and Budget of the President, White House. Changes, they plan to pursue mainly via executive orders and recent judicial decisions of the Supreme court particularly the cases of West Virginia v. Environmental Protection Agency and Loper Bright v. Raimondo. These cases suggest that a lot of the current federal regulations may be beyond the scope of the authority granted by congress.
The DOGE report contains recommendations which outline what restrictions Trump would be advised to suspend. It is stated that such decisions will be based, inter alia, on ‘advanced technology,’ although the said technology remains unspecified. With such expectations, Musk and Ramaswamy predict that Trump will overturn ‘thousands’ of rules and regulations at the federal level. They think that such slashes would result in a steep drop in the government workforce. The emphasis will be on working out the smallest amount of personnel per agency for the agencies to carry out their constitutional responsibilities and the ones allotted per the legislation.
In addition, DOGE indicates that should Trump lead the nation, he may implement such rules as mandating that all federal workers report to their offices every day. They contend that such stipulations may also encourage some employees to quit on their own thereby reducing the headcount further. Of course, the ultimate aim of such a scheme is to achieve a leaner more effective and resource conscious central government.
