Tesla Plans to Remove Steering Wheel Nag With New Full Self-Driving Update

The big update for Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) system is set to come out next week. Elon Musk, the CEO, said it would be amazing, but he didn’t say much else. The driver will no longer be reminded to touch the steering wheel, which is a big change. A camera inside the car will be used instead to see if the driver is paying attention.

At the moment, Tesla’s system tells drivers every minute to pay attention. Some people don’t like having to do this so often, though. If a driver looks away from the road for more than three seconds, the new camera system already lets them know. A lot of people also find this annoying.

Some people are worried that the camera system might not work perfectly, which could cause cars to use it in the wrong way. Tesla says drivers should still be ready to take over the car at any time, though.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is looking into a Tesla recall linked to alerts for Autopilot and Full Self-Driving. This change comes at a risky time for Tesla. Tesla keeps telling drivers that when they use these features, they need to pay attention and keep their hands on the wheel.
