The great majority of us use Google to look for answers whenever we need to know anything.

The well-known search engine is always available, whether you need it to look up the definition of a difficult term or discover the answer to an urgent query.

A Reddit thread does list several terms, though, that you should avoid Google searching.

Why do you inquire?

With over 106 billion visitors in June 2023 alone, Google is the most popular website on the planet.

But Google Photos also comes with Google search, and certain things are best not seen.

Consider this your polite reminder to the billions of people who use Google every day that these phrases aren’t worth a Google search since sometimes life doesn’t always come with a trigger warning.

However, what are they?

Some of the phrases, which were collected in a study by It’s Gone Viral and released earlier this year, are undoubtedly stomach-churning.

It should come as no surprise that many of them have to do with health; after all, who doesn’t turn to Google right away when they’re feeling under the weather?

Having said that, it is crucial to keep in mind that you should see a doctor if you have any health issues rather than searching online resources like Google or Reddit.

Let’s start with the words now.

Invertebrates

Larvae are the first word you should avoid searching for on Google. The Oxford Dictionary defines the word as the “active immature form of an insect.” It sounds like a harmless search term.

The Reddit post claims that one search danger associated with Googling “larvae” is the possibility of finding an ailment with the same name.

As stated by WebMD: “Parasites known as mouth larvae develop and reside in the oral cavity of both human and animal hosts. Oral myiasis is a serious ailment that these parasites may cause.”

The website also states: “Eating food containing larvae might cause oral myiasis in humans. Additionally, flies can penetrate the mouth and deposit their eggs in wounds.”

Then, that’s a Google search to avoid.

Degloving

The next thing on the list is Degloving, which you should stay away from because of the pictures that will stick in your brain.

Degloving, sometimes called an avulsion, is described by WebMD as “occurring when a large portion of your skin and the layer of soft tissue directly beneath it is partially or completely torn from your muscles and connecting tissues.”

Undoubtedly awful.

Krokodil

The meaning of the next term varies depending on the language, but the one covered in the It’s Gone Viral story is related to the opioid medication desomorphine.

Its hazard was highlighted in a 2013 Time magazine article titled “The World’s Deadliest Drug: Inside a Krokodil Cookhouse.”

It all started when Russian physicians found “strange wounds” on a large number of heroin users.

They had been injecting a novel medication called “Krokodil,” which was subsequently referred to as a “flesh-eating zombie drug” in an article from CNN.

You don’t want such pictures in your brain, do you?

Fournier

Considering that Fournier is a well-known French surname, you would assume that this one wouldn’t be too difficult for Google.

Nevertheless, the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD) states that Fournier may potentially relate to an ‘acute necrotic infection’ of the vaginal region.

According to WebMD, “Fournier’s gangrene gets worse quickly and can kill you, so it’s always an emergency.”

Ichtyosis in harlequins

Congenital ichthyosis, sometimes referred to as Harlequin infant syndrome, is the last term you really shouldn’t be searching for on Google.

It is a ‘rare ailment affecting the skin’, according to Healthline, and it is a ‘type of ichthyosis, which refers to a group of conditions that produce chronically dry, scaly skin all over the body.’

An infant with the illness is said to have skin “covered with thick, diamond-shaped plates that resemble fish scales,” according to the website.

Babies that have this disease must receive treatment right away.
