iOS 18.3 supports Starlink satellite communication.
The iOS 18.3 update now supports Starlink satellite communication.
The launch of the iOS 18.3 update by Apple has brought with it a notable disk feature that if enforced, will enable Starlink’s direct-to-cell satellite service. This is an added feature to the T-Mobile network already in the United States.
The newly-developed version of iPhone, be it 14 or the later models, has made it possible for one to send texts and make distress calls regardless of whether the area they are in is served by a cellular network or not.
The operation of this satellite service is somehow performed automatically such that the user does not have to make it possible by aligning devices with the satellite. The function of this service being the automatic mode, users are not required to manually perform the satellite to device alignment.
Furthermore, the operations are independent and no more input is needed from the users. T-Mobile has verified this characteristic through text messages with the company. It is now, albeit in its trial or beta version, a select group of individuals can avail themselves of it to try.
T-Mobile has stated that they will be coming up with a service payment plan with the release date set to the end of 2025. Bringing Starlink’s service closer to the iPhone through the additional link can significantly make connectivity better for people in the wilderness and marginalized areas, which would mean that they can communicate whenever the old type cellular network is out of order.
