Oklahoma senator proposes p*rnographic content criminalization and prison for creators
A senator from Oklahoma has introduced a bill to ban adult content and put its makers in jail.
Senator Dusty Deevers of Oklahoma has introduced a plan to tackle issues relating to pornography in the state through the legislation known as SB573. The bill proposes to criminalize the production, distribution, and possession of p*rnography, and should it pass, the penalties for violations are very serious, including prison terms of up to ten years.
This initiative is part of a broader campaign costing Project 2025, a set of conservative policy aspirations meant to steer the next term of former President Trump. Among them is a call for a nationwide ban on pornography, with jail terms for those creating and disseminating it.
Oklahoma is a place where, currently speaking, age-verification laws have made access to sites like Pornhub impossible; this new bill is meant only to reinsure those measures and has the possibility of increasing penalties for those involved in organized pornography trafficking. Trafficking penalties could heighten significantly, going from a maximum of 10 years in prison to up to 30 years indeed.
Senator Deevers is a firm believer in how damaging p*rnography, as he describes the degenerate form, may be, and comparisons of its addictive nature and drugs can be easily drawn. Deevers rights that p*rnography destroys lives, marriages, and human dignity and innocence while facilitating the institution of illegal activities. The proposed legislation furthers this with a call for sex education in schools, aiming at media literacy and fundamental knowledge on human anatomy.
Nonetheless, troubles have wherever arisen for such education. The first Trump campaign and the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted s3x education programs across the country, meaning 36 states and Washington had mandated some form of s3x education or education on HIV.
Besides, the bill takes aim at p*rnography, while increasing penalties for possessing child s3xual abuse content. One other means in which the bill seeks to protect vulnerable groups is to make sure that people who engage in such crimes get appropriate sentences.
