Elon Musk declared a bold prediction about humanoid robots; he states that they would turn out to become the most brilliant product ever created. He dreams of a world where five men will be equivalent to one robot, which could most probably translate into as many as 30 billion robots all over the world.
Tesla, which he leads, aims to produce 50,000-100,000 robots in 2026 with Optimus. As for 2027, the targets are even more aggressive, setting production ramp-up by ten times, or between 500,000 and 1 million units.
Following the meeting in November with CC Wei, the Chairman at TSMC, Musk said that Tesla future priority will shift towards the Optimus robot rather than car building. Analyst of Bank of America, John Murphy predicts that by the end of 2025, there will be around 1,000 Optimus robots operating in Tesla factories in all demonstrations of that company’s commitment to automation and innovation.
The robot Optimus has a very advanced brain capable of powering up with a neural network and artificial intelligence to be able to sense its environment and, therefore, do many tasks.
Deutsche Bank, in its predictions, is optimistic that Tesla’s Optimus will ensure huge financial profits in the future. By 2035, they estimate that the robot could be able to bring in around $10 billion annually. Their assumptions are based on selling 200,000 units at an average price of $50,000 each. Such success would highlight the very importance Musk gives to humanoid robots in tomorrow’s economy and technology landscape.
