Hidden in iOS Code: The iPhone Duo Features Apple Forgot to Announce
Leaked code points to five StandBy faces Apple has not mentioned, and one of them could change how you use a foldable phone.
Apple has already shown that the iPhone Duo can stand on a table like a small open book. It has not said everything the phone will show while it stands there. Some of that is now hiding in code.
Apple’s Show Was Not the Full Show
What the code reveals
Apple unveiled the Duo on September 9 and showed several StandBy screens, called faces, including Analog, Digital, Weather and Photos. Then developer pdfu looked inside the iOS 27.1 simulator, a test version of Apple’s software. The code held five unannounced names: Home Camera, Home Modular, Flow, Fade and Snoopy.

A Phone That Watches Your Home
The smart-home clue
Home Camera could show one camera feed or a grid of up to nine. Home Modular seems linked to smart-home controls, but details are missing. Flow is labelled “ResponsiveArt”, so it may be moving art. Nothing is known about Fade. Snoopy may look like Apple’s tvOS screensaver. Code also points to an Apple Watch-style editor for changing colours and clock styles. iPhone Duo Leak Hints at New StandBy Faces, Apple Watch Features +3
Here is the interesting part. Apple says the Duo’s StandBy can work even when the phone is not charging. So the phone could sit on a desk or kitchen table as a small smart display. That is my reading, not Apple’s claim.
Do Not Celebrate Yet
Leaks are not promises
These are names in code, not confirmed features. Rushmore, the app meant to host some of the views, is missing from the simulator, so the work may be unfinished. Apple can change or remove features before launch. Still, pdfu has a strong record, including confirming Touch ID on the Duo. Pre-orders start October 16, and the phone arrives October 23, so the answer is close.
